Sonia Castro - Skyer LawUpon graduating from St. John’s Law School, Sonia went to work  at Advocates for Children, a nationally acclaimed citywide agency offering free assistance to families and children who are unable to receive appropriate educational services for their children. She quickly rose to supervising Attorney at this agency and then went into private practice.  Sonia joined SkyerLaw in 2002.

Sonia is bi-lingual in Spanish and is an expert litigator with an extensive list of published decisions in the area of special education.  Her clients comment not only on her effective trial skills but on her concern and dedication.

Sonia also supervises our summer law interns and is an effective teacher and trainer of aspiring attorneys.  She inspires students with her own enthusiasm for this area of law.

She has been the recipient of the Puerto Rican Bar Association Award for excellence.

Sonia lives on Long Island with her husband and three daughters.  She aptly balances her successful career, motherhood and community involvement and service.   It is no wonder that one of her daughter’s has already announced that she wants to go to law school in order to follow in her mother’s foot steps!
