Upon receiving her Bachelors degree, with honors from Duke University in 2000, Lara was an Americorps intern at Advocates to Children. She then received a masters degree in education from Columbia University's Teachers College and worked as a general education teacher in a New York City public school.
Lara attended Benjamin Cardoza Law School where she volunteered at the Bet Tzedek Legal Services Clinic and was a member of the moot court honor society. Lara came to work with us as a summer law intern during her second year of law school and we never let her go. She has been with us as an attorney since 2006. Lara has developed an expertise in pre-school pendency and in case management of our growing turning five population of students. She is known for her kindness, compassion and forcefulness when advocating or litigating for "her kids."
Lara lives in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn with her husband, daughter and son.
