Melissa Machado

PARALEGAL

Melissa Machado worked at the NYC Department of Education’s Impartial Hearing Office for ten years. As a Senior Case Manager, Melissa’s had a frontline view of how due process for children with disabilities functioned in New York City—and she wanted to do more.

While working at the DOE, Melissa took classes to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. In 2014, she left the DOE and worked for a special education advocate as an office assistant. In 2018, she began working for Skyer Law as a paralegal.

Melissa was born and raised on the Lower East Side. She has two children, one in college, and the other in high school. In her spare time she bakes, sees good movies, and spends time with her mother.
