Jackie is a graduate of the City University of New York School of Law and the College of New Jersey and has been with Skyer Law since 2022, having previously worked for another special education law firm in New York City for many years, litigating matters at the administrative and federal levels. Jackie is a seasoned litigator and has always passionately advocated for the rights of children and their families. Earlier in her career, Jackie worked as a community advocate for a New Jersey domestic violence non-profit agency. After graduating from law school, Jackie became an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting cases in its Domestic Violence and Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Bureaus. After leaving the DA’s Office, Jackie litigated for the New York City Department of Education Special Education Unit, where she was inspired to work on behalf of the families of children of special needs. Jackie has successfully litigated a number of “inclusion” cases, both in New York and in New Jersey. These cases include Jackie’s work in Starego v. NJSIAA, where a 19-year-old student with autism, was awarded an unprecedented fifth season of competitive play as a starting placekicker on his school’s varsity football team. Jackie also was a core member of the trial team in Doe v. Darien, et al., a matter involving the sexual abuse of a student by that student’s paraprofessional.

Jackie is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District Court of New Jersey.

Jackie presents workshops on special education topics around the country. She been interviewed by the media regarding sexual assault cases and has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA). Jackie has previously served as a member of a local Board of Education in NJ and lives in NJ with her husband (a public school teacher) and their two children. She enjoys frequent visits to her beloved Jersey Shore with her family.
