Carrie Plover

Carrie has dedicated her career to helping parents and families navigate complicated systems, including the disability accommodations process, Family Court proceedings, and domestic violence services. She's enthusiastic about using her client-centered advocacy skills in service of SkyerLaw's clientele.

Carrie began her legal career as a Staff Attorney at the Center for Family Representation (CFR), where she represented parents and other caregivers in Queens Family Court. As a CFR Staff Attorney, she litigated dozens of hearings while providing counsel to parents navigating highly stressful circumstances. In several instances, Carrie worked closely with CFR's Education Advocacy unit to support parents seeking appropriate school placements and educational services for their children.

Carrie's passion for education law burgeoned during the summer she spent at Advocates for Children, where she worked closely with staff attorneys and families through all stages of special education representation, including school visits, IEP evaluations, settlement negotiations, and the execution of administrative hearings. Building on that experience, Carrie organized her alma mater Fordham Law's first-ever education and disability law symposium, which drew over 200 guests. At her law school graduation, Carrie received the 2024 National Association of Women Lawyers Award, which recognizes one law student per institution for their motivation, tenacity, enthusiasm, and academic achievement.

Before becoming an attorney, Carrie earned her Master of Social Work degree and worked as a licensed master social worker at a domestic violence shelter and community mental health care provider. In her legal practice, Carrie calls upon her social work skills when zealously advocating for clients, supporting parents navigating personal and legal challenges, and collaborating with professionals across disciplines.

In her free time, Carrie enjoys caring for her dog and cat, spending time with her beloved nieces, and burning through an audiobook a week.
