Greg Cangiano, Senior Partner, Skyer Law

Gregory Cangiano was inspired to pursue special education law by his mother, a guidance counselor whose life’s work was supporting children with special needs.

Greg earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Binghamton and graduated with honors from Touro Law School in 2006. During both his undergraduate and law school years, he interned part-time at SkyerLaw. As a law student, he also completed pro bono work with the Long Island Advocacy Center, an organization dedicated to protecting the rights of students and individuals with disabilities.

Greg joined the firm as an associate in 2006 and became a partner in 2015. He regularly participates in IEP review meetings with clients throughout New York City, Nassau, and Westchester counties, and has extensive litigation experience in all areas of special education law, including appeals before the Federal District Court.

Deeply committed to empowering parents and educators in the IEP process, Greg served as an adjunct professor at Bank Street College of Education from 2008 to 2012, where he taught a graduate course titled Communication and Collaboration: What the Law Intended. He designed the course to explore how the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) calls for true collaboration in developing and implementing IEPs.

Greg lives on Long Island with his wife and their two children. In 2017, he founded the INA Fund, a nonprofit organization established in memory of his mother that supports students with special education needs.
