Our Team
Jackie joined SkyerLaw in 2022, bringing extensive experience in special education law and a deep commitment to advocating for the rights of children and families. She previously worked for another special education law firm in New York City for many years, litigating matters at both the administrative and federal levels.
A seasoned litigator, Jackie has devoted her career to protecting and empowering children. Before law school, she worked as a community advocate for a New Jersey domestic violence nonprofit organization. After earning her law degree from the City University of New York School of Law, Jackie served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted cases in the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Bureaus. She later joined the New York City Department of Education’s Special Education Unit, where her work inspired her to represent families of children with special needs.
Jackie has successfully litigated numerous inclusion cases in both New York and New Jersey, including Starego v. NJSIAA, in which a 19-year-old student with autism was granted an unprecedented fifth season of competitive play as a varsity football team kicker. She also served as a core member of the trial team in Doe v. Darien, et al., a case involving the sexual abuse of a student by a paraprofessional.
In addition to her legal practice, Jackie frequently presents workshops on special education topics across the country and has been featured in media coverage related to sexual assault cases. She has served on the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) and as a member of a local Board of Education in New Jersey.
Jackie holds a bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey and lives in New Jersey with her husband, a public school teacher, and their two children. She enjoys spending time with her family at her beloved Jersey Shore.
