Kerry is a partner at SkyerLaw and an experienced special education attorney who represents students with disabilities and their families throughout New York. She brings a thoughtful, practical approach to advocacy, informed by her background in education, her litigation experience, and her understanding of the challenges families face when navigating the New York City public school system.
Before becoming an attorney, Kerry began her career as a teacher in the New York City public schools. That experience continues to shape her work, giving her firsthand insight into classroom realities and the impact that educational decisions have on students and their families. She earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University, where she majored in policy studies with a concentration in education policy, and received her Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 2012.
Since becoming an attorney, Kerry has devoted her practice to representing parents in special education matters under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and related laws. Her practice focuses on litigation at impartial hearings and administrative appeals, where she advocates for appropriate educational programs, services, and placements for students with disabilities. Kerry is admitted to practice in New York State, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
She was counsel in Board of Education of the Yorktown Central School District v. C.S., an important Second Circuit decision that reinforced key procedural protections for parents navigating special education disputes.
In addition to her professional experience, Kerry is the parent of a New York City public school student and is herself navigating the public school system. This perspective informs her advocacy and commitment to helping families secure appropriate educational opportunities for their children. She is known for her careful preparation, clear communication, and steady advocacy, particularly in complex and high‑stakes cases.
Kerry was named a partner at SkyerLaw in 2023.
