Marcie Rodriguez, Paralegal, Skyer Law

Marcie Rodriguez began her career in the Law Department at the New York City Housing Authority, where a supervisor encouraged her to take the civil service exam. Shortly thereafter, she was offered a position as a Case Manager at the NYC Department of Education’s Impartial Hearing Office, overseeing case scheduling and the management of case documents.

During her time at the Impartial Hearing Office, Marcie discovered how much she enjoyed helping parents who had questions or felt lost in the special education process. Through this work, she reflected on her own family history and recognized that several of her relatives had special education needs that went unmet. This realization deepened her commitment to ensuring families receive the services and support their children are entitled to under the law.

After seven years at the Impartial Hearing Office, Marcie joined SkyerLaw as a paralegal to have an even more direct impact on the lives of children with special needs and their families.

Marcie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from John Jay College in 2016.

Outside of work, Marcie volunteers at a veterans’ home with her therapy dog, Blaze, and visits local schools serving students with special needs to share comfort and connection.
