
Melissa Machado joined SkyerLaw in 2018 as a paralegal, bringing more than a decade of experience with the New York City Department of Education’s Impartial Hearing Office. As a Senior Case Manager, she gained firsthand insight into how due process for students with disabilities functions in New York City and discovered her passion for doing more to support families navigating that system.
While working at the DOE, Melissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management. After leaving the Department of Education in 2014, she worked with a special education advocate as an office assistant, deepening her understanding of the advocacy process before joining SkyerLaw.
Born and raised on the Lower East Side, Melissa is proud of her New York City roots. She has two grown children and enjoys baking, watching great movies, and spending time with her mother.
